OUR HISTORY

Since 1942, our Chapel has been sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with our neighbors in Canarsie, Brooklyn.

Our church was born after a series of Tent Meetings held by Reverend Hans Waldvogel (of the Ridgewood Pentecostal Church) at the corner of Avenue L and Remsen Avenue. Many received Jesus as Savior and were filled with the Holy Spirit during those meetings. A church building was purchased for Canarsie Full Gospel Chapel. Under the leadership of several faithful pastors, the Lord has continued his gracious work among us for over 75 years. We are still passionate about Children’s Ministry, Bible Classes, Evangelism and World Missions.

We are blessed to have fellowship with the Ridgewood Pentecostal Church and several other churches that resulted from their ministry in the Metropolitan area and elsewhere. We also enjoy access to our fellowship camp on Brant Lake, New York in the beautiful Adirondack Mountains.  Pilgrim Camp remains to this day to be a place where people from many churches nationwide and overseas, find rest and spiritual refreshing during their summer vacations. 

OUR MISSION

“… while they communed together and reasoned, Jesus Himself drew near, and went with them.”    Luke 24:15

We are here to provide an opportunity for all people to come into the Presence of God and experience the wonder of Jesus Himself.  As you come, our hope is that you will know that you are loved and greatly valued by the Lord and us as well.  

By the preaching of the Gospel and study of God’s Word, our aim is for people of all races and cultures to find salvation through Christ and learn to walk in fellowship with Him in their daily lives.

Through Spirit-led worship we open our hearts to God’s Presence and create an atmosphere where we can touch God and be touched by Him.  We enjoy singing a blend of hymns and contemporary worship songs. Times of prayer and earnest seeking bring healing, deliverance and the anointing of God’s Holy Spirit. We believe He enables us to be channels of blessing to a dying world as we prepare for His soon return.

It is our desire that Jesus will be the center of all we do and that His name will be glorified.   

OUR PASTOR

Pastor Kenneth Friedmann has been serving CFGC since 1982, as Youth Pastor and Associate Pastor, and currently as our Senior Pastor. His vision for the church is that everyone who comes through the doors will experience the Presence of Jesus in a way that will change their daily lives and impact the community. His wife, Lillian, serves beside him in music and teaching ministries, and his children are active in worship ministry.
